Breathletters

Breathletters explores the concept of harmonic sound as a form of pre-language emotional communication. Like unweaving words to expose the phonemes inside them, hidden details in the timbral characteristics of acoustic instruments (glockenspiel, guitar, violin, bowed electric bass, contact mics on bowed and hammered metal) are unwound, frozen and expanded. These elemental sounds are combined with binaural field recordings, and arranged intuitively into a set of nine tracks suggesting the emotional signals sent across an environment by reciprocal minds, imagined letters in the alphabet of empathy.
