When I first started listening to this it transported me back years to that sound that a landline phone made when off its receiver, just before its pulsating tones. Pé is new to me, and the modulation of wave frequency is like an emphasized drone that pulses in and out with a cautionary flare. Spiral consists of five numbered tracks, for 36 minutes of slowed experiential listening.
Slightly brooding, and altogether about its density in textured layering this is a peculiar recording at first. More towards the cooler end of the spectrum, after ten or so minutes this begins to massage the part of the brain that sort of renders the body slump and in repose. Spiral revs with a low-to-the-ground bass, almost like the spin cycle of your Maytag, or perhaps one of those rare lucid moments when a memory is triggered.
